Why should you join: This is the most comprehensive training course, worldwide!

This 10-day course, you will experience comprehensive, hands-on data analysis for untargeted metabolomics and exposome analysis. You will understand choices for technologies, get trained on different types of software, and be able to integrate datasets for different purposes:

  1. Use metabolomics data to understand biochemistry and metabolism.

  2. Evaluate and choose the most appropriate techniques for sample preparation and data acquisition.

  3. Consider study design and quality control factors, including power analysis, quality, and confidence metrics.

  4. Gain expertise in LC-MS raw data, including challenges like in-source fragmentation and adducts

  5. Implement data curation best practices through hands-on exercises with metabolomics and exposome datasets.

  6. Develop skills in univariate and multivariate statistics, including regression analysis and Bayesian statistics.

  7. Mine biological information from chemical identifiers, perform pathway mapping, and conduct enrichment analysis for comprehensive data interpretation.

  8. Learn current compound identification methods in metabolomics, lipidomics, and exposome analyses, including MS/MS and retention time matching, in-silico tools such as MS-FINDER and SIRIUS+CSI:FingerID, and utilize new resources like MassWiki.

  9. Understand the significance of quantification in nontargeted studies and multiomics data integration.

  10. Re-use existing datasets reported in Metabolomics Workbench to integrate or compare your data with prior studies.

New this year:

Electives!

On Saturday, August 24, 2024 (9 am-5 pm), you will select electives tailored to your interests. to get more in-depth learning including hands-on experience with 16 different mass spectrometers.

Options:

  1. Use different mass spectrometers, including ThermoFisher Orbitraps, Agilent QTOFs, Sciex TripleTOF, Bruker timsTOF, and Leco GC-TOF instrumentation.

  2. Explore targeted analyses (QTRAP, triple quadrupole MS/MS) including hands-on sample preparation for Biocrates kits.

  3. Utilize sample preparation for HILIC and Lipidomics data acquisitions.

  4. Learn additional tools for data processing.

  • To select an elective, participants must register and complete payment for the course beforehand. Secure your spot early as spots are limited!

Stay at UC Davis to continue working on your own research projects!

  • Private Consultations: Get personalized advice and recommendations.

  • Extend the time for your work trip to work on your data, as long as you like!

Personalize your experience to your needs! Different datasets (food composition and natural products, exposome, metabolomics, and lipidomics) for your hands-on learning experience!

Get direct exposure to innovations from vendors.  Lunch-and-Learn seminars with ThermoFisher, Bruker, Agilent, and SCIEX scientists
