MANA NMR Interest Group's Latest Publication Takes Center Stage on Trends in Analytical Chemistry Cover

The MANA NMR Interest Group’s latest publication entitled “Best Practices in NMR Metabolomics: Current State” made the cover of Trends in Analytical Chemistry (TrAC).  Vol 171, February 2024, 117478; https://doi.org/10.1016/j.trac.2023.117478.

From its early inception, the MANA NMR Interest Group has been hard at work to highlight the contributions of NMR to the field of metabolomics and to provide guidance to the metabolomics community and NMR users. The latest effort represents a survey of 2010 and 2020 NMR metabolomics papers to assess how NMR metabolomics studies were reported in the scientific literature to help guide the development of best practices. We, as a community, need to improve our overall approach to metabolomics by addressing current pitfalls and limitations. Lessons learned from the literature survey included several improvements to how we report NMR metabolomics studies, and the requirement for detailed information on experimental designs, statistical methods, and metabolite ID strategies to achieve reproducible outcomes. The NMR Interest Group is eager to welcome motivated researchers at all levels of their careers to join and add to this growing metabolomics research community.
